Heaven 97 Blog

The radio format that I used for this particular blog was AM. The station is located in Dallas, Texas. The call letters are KHVN and the title of the station is Heaven 97 AM. The website is http://khvnam.com/pages/3176575.php. While you are visiting the webpage click on the link that says listen live. The founding Father of Heaven 97 KHVN is Joe Bagby. The general Manager is Dion Mortenson.
“You are valuable of God” was the headline of the word from Pastor Ricky Rush. It is a Gospel based radio station. Pastor Ricky Rush talked says “if he waited until everything was ok in order to come to church then the people of the church would not be going to church each Sunday.” A preacher preaches on the behalf of people complaining about the little things in life are not worth complaining about. All that matters is that someone made it to church. Overall his lesson is explaining that Jesus Christ gets each and every person through the day as they struggle and fight the battle with satin.
The Gospel music is a one of my favorite genres of music to listen to because it lifts my spirits up about knowing God. It also focuses on glorifying everything in the name of Jesus Christ. I think this station will appeal to various age groups. It has no bad language in the lyrics of the songs which enables this. The Urban audience most likely will listen to Gospel music because they are more interracial grouped. This station is at the top of m list of radio stations to listen to now. I hope after reading this blog that you would be interested in listening to it also.

CFSX 870 Blog date 3/30/10

CFSX 870 is an AM radio station. The owner of the station is NewCap Broadcasting. Chance Crosby was a man advertised on the station, which is an author of a book based on car accidents. There were some interviews featured also on CFSX. One topic was how to treat an animal. “Should we make clothes out of animal hair?” one guy objected this idea because he had a heart for animals.
After the interview there was a break and it talked about Ford’s deals, Akin Windows and doors, Seniors of Distinction, Granvay Mall, and Coleman’s.
CFSX host’s citizens who call in and bring up topics of today that they feel is important. I personally do not care for the station. The discussions are not interesting to me and they are drawn out and have no real importance. I think the reason is because the people who call in are not professionals. But the one thing that I do like is how the hosts cuts off the interviewee when they are not making since. This is an important asset because if he did not then the show would not be able to progress for other callers to stat there point.
This station will only pertain to older people rather than teenagers. It is dull and not “in.” I personally will never listen to CFSX again anytime soon but when I get older I might tune in again and give it another chance to intrigue my interest. CFSX will relate more to rural areas than urban cities.

Blog #9 CNN 1190

The radio station that I decided to listen to was CNN 1190.The calls letters for the station is KFXR. It is an AM broadcasted station. It is sent out from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. There are two ways to listen to CNN 1190 and those are: by radio or online. The radio stations website is http://www.cnn1190.com/main.html . I clicked on listen live on the webpage and the genre of music that is played is Classic Country. In-between songs commercials are advertised. Some companies that were advertised are Office Max, and Money-Sets.com. Many commercials were played in fact only two songs played then more than four commercials played in the gap.
The intended audience is older people. The reason I came to this conclusion is because younger people do not enjoy exponential commercials. But I do think that both young and old will enjoy the music played on the station. The urban community will find the information talked about important to know about. The reason being is that urban communities are immediately impacted by the governmental happenings.
CNN 1190 is different from other stations that I personally listen to while happen to only be FM broadcasted stations. I came to realize that AM stations are more talking based than FM stations. And I will not listen to AM broadcast on my time, only for a school project.

Slacker.com Blog #8

On this blog I will be explaining the pros of listening to www.Slacker.com. It is an online station that is customizable. I was introduced to the website by one of my friends and I decided to listen to it on their computer. We jammed to the station in his apartment. I will suggest this website to my friends from here on out. The website will attract a wide variety of people of all ages. The reason is because there are numerous amounts of choices of music to listen to. The thing that makes slacker radio different from another internet based music station is that slacker did not make the listener subscribe to the website. In contrast to that example Pandora pressures a new user to subscibe and make an account which is annoying in my opinion.
The website allows any user to pick a category of music. The categories are by genre of music such as: Hip Hop, New Country, 80’s 90’s and today, Comedy, Alternative, Classic, Rock, R&B Hits, Soft Hits, Smooth Jazz, and Soft Rock. Any internet user has twenty-four-seven access to www.slackercom. The owner of the website is Broadband Instruments.
While the music was playing there were some commercials in-between songs. Some of the commercials talked about Geico, the car insurance company, another commercial explained the highlights about a website named Twitter. There was also a movie advertisement that talked about “She’s Out of My League.”

I decided to listen to the station on line in my dorm room. The website for the station is http://www.k104fm.com/. I clicked on listen live. All I had to do was download software provided from a link that was on the web page. The station is broadcasted from Dallas, Texas. If you would like to mail them there mailing address is 621 NW 6th St Grand Prairie, Tx 75050.
The Corporate Boss of K104 FM is TJ and his right hand man is Nate Quick. The main announcers are Skip Cheatham and Da Playground. The crew is made up by Skip Cheatham, DeDe McGuire, Sam Putney, Chris Arnold, and Lady Jade. They DJ during starting in the morning and finish in the late afternoon. I enjoyed listening to the station because the Disk Jockeys were nice to all of the people who called in. This asset sets them apart from the previous radio stations that I have listed to. I plan on tuning in daily to listen live from the internet.
During some of there infomercials they sell tickets to concerts, sports events, and also have answer peoples calls to grant money prizes. They also had commercials about Pier 1, Care One Credit, Hands only CPR, Speak up or else, Knowhowtogo.org, IAVA.org, www.knowitsacts.org, feedthepig.org, and Autismspeaks.org

Blog #5 (Pandora)

The music source that I chose to listen to for this particular blog was Pandora. It is an online sit that anybody can listen to. All a guest of the site has to do is sign up for an account for personal pleasure. Pandora was thought and put together by a group that goes by the name “Music Genome Project.” After that is all said and done they can begin choosing songs to listen to. The groups of songs to choose from could follow a guide line of which artist, Genre, or time period the user enjoys listening to. Pandora is a website based product.
I used my friends Pandora account (which he is aware of) which hosted “True Country” songs. Artists such as: Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Hank Williams, and David Allan Coe. His set list would attract both man and women of a wide variety of ages to listen to the list of songs. I would recommend Pandora to other people because we as listeners always try to customize the music selection at hand. It also is a great site because it has some similarities to iPod’s and many other MP3 players.
If anyone has any questions pertaining to the website they can contact Pandora by mail at 2101 Webster Street Suite 1650 Oakland CA 94612. The Chief Executive Officer & President of Pandora is Joe Kennedy.

The radio station that I chose to listen to for the following blog was 95.9 FM The Ranch. Their well known slogan is “The Sound of Texas.” The call number is KFWR. The radio station is hosted in Mineral Wells, Texas. During the breaks between songs they decided to advertise Cabela’s and Cavenders. The radio stations frequency is 95.9 MHz. The area that the radio station covers range from: Mineral Wells to Dallas. The format of The Ranch is Texas Country. The owner of 95.9 The Ranch is LKCM Radio Group.
